Abstract

ECF bleaching of sulphate softwood pulp is investigated using the following bleaching sequence: Pa-E-Chl1-Ep-Chl2-A where Pa is peroxide delignification in acidic medium, E – alkaline extraction, Chl – bleaching by sodium chlorite, Ep – alkaline extraction with addition of peroxide, A - acidification. Regression equations are worked out and conditions of Pa and Chl1 stages are optimized. Comparative characteristics of bleached and non-bleached pulp according to the above sequence are provided.
